How do I add or edit points for an assignment?

You can add or edit the amount of points on a given assignment.

Notes:

  • When an assignment is set as a moderated assignment, only the moderator or a Canvas admin can edit the assignment after it is published.
  • Points possible must be set to a number greater than zero for assignments with percentage, points, letter grade, or GPA grading types.

1. Open Assignments

In Course Navigation, click the Assignments link.

2. Edit Assignment

Click the assignment's Options icon [1] then click the Edit link [2].

Note: When editing an assignment from the index page, the submission types remain set to their previous settings.

3. Edit Points

Edit the points available for the assignment by typing in the points field.

4. Save Assignment

Click the Save button.
